This page explains what No Sync Club collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. Short version: we collect what we need to run lessons and improve them, we don't sell it, and your music never leaves your computer.

Who we are

No Sync Club (nosyncclub.com) is run by George Gebbett, a sole trader in the UK, who is the controller of your personal data. For any question or request about your data, email hello@nosyncclub.com.

What we collect and why

Visiting this website. We use PostHog to count visits and see which buttons get clicked. It runs in cookieless mode, so nothing is stored in your browser. To count unique visitors, PostHog combines your IP address and browser details with a random value that changes every day and is then deleted. The result can't be traced back to you, and your IP address isn't kept. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used.

Using the app as a guest. When you open the app we create a guest account so your progress is saved. We store a random account ID and your lesson progress: which steps you've done, your scores and timings. For each signed-in session we also store your IP address and browser details to keep the session secure, and set one essential cookie that keeps you signed in. We need this to provide the lessons you asked for.

Saving your progress. If you add your email address, we store it and use it to send you sign-in links and messages about your account. We won't send you marketing unless you ask for it.

Usage data in the app, if you agree. The first time you open the app, we ask whether you're happy to share usage data. If you say yes, PostHog records how you use the app, which can include recordings of what happens on screen in the app and error reports, and links them to your account once you've saved your progress. If you say no, we only count you anonymously, the same cookieless way as on this website. You can change your answer at any time in the app's settings.

Errors and server logs. When something breaks, we record technical details (the error, what was being loaded, browser and device type) so we can fix it. We do this because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the service working.

Paying for Headliner. Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see your full card details. Stripe tells us whether your subscription is active, and we keep payment records for as long as tax law requires.

Your music and your controller. Music files you load are decoded and analysed in your browser and never uploaded. Your controller is read in your browser to run lessons; we save the results to your progress.

Who else handles your data

We use a few companies to run No Sync Club. They only use your data to provide their service to us:

  • PostHog: analytics, error tracking and logs, hosted in the EU.
  • Cloudflare: hosts the website and app, and stores accounts and progress.
  • Resend: sends sign-in emails.
  • Stripe: takes payments.

Some of these companies are based in the US. Where your data leaves the UK, it's protected by the UK–US data bridge or standard contractual clauses. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and progress while you use No Sync Club. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it within 30 days, apart from payment records we must keep for tax (usually six years). Analytics, error and log data are deleted automatically under PostHog's retention settings.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or limit how we use it, or ask for it in a format you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@nosyncclub.com and we'll reply within a month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

No Sync Club isn't meant for children under 13.

Changes

If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If the change matters, we'll email you if you've saved your progress.
